Crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities are replacing a section of natural gas line on Grand Canyon between La Vista Drive and Canada Way in White Rock.
Work is scheduled 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, July 15 and Thursday, July 16. Traffic delays are expected.
The Grand Canyon eastbound lane will be dropped at the work zone on the north side of the road. A flagging operation will be set up to accommodate east and westbound traffic.
No interruption of gas service is expected. During the replacement project, however, crews will need to purge the line of air and excess gas.
While citizens in the area may smell gas during this process, department officials provide assurances that the procedure is safe and performed in accordance with federal and state regulations.
