UPDATE: Due to rain – the closure is changed to Tuesday.

LIBRARY News:

The road construction on Sherwood Boulevard is nearly complete and ready for paving. The paving is scheduled to take place today and Friday, weather permitting.

Today, flaggers will be allowing intermittent access to the Library and Pinon Park parking lots, as the east side of the road (closer to Smith’s) is paved. Friday, the west side of the road is scheduled to be paved, which means that access to the parking lot will be completely blocked at points throughout the day.

“You’ll probably see a two-hour block of time when the asphalt is laid down,” Engineering Project Manager Audoro Espinoza said, “along with potentially a second block of time later in the day.”

Library Manager Steven Thomas said that in the interest of safety and access, the White Rock Branch Library would not open at 10 a.m. as usual Friday.

“It’s clear we won’t be able to open first thing in the morning,” Thomas said. “If conditions allow, the Library could re-open Friday afternoon, although it’s possible we’ll be closed for the whole day if construction moves slower than hoped.”

“The whole schedule could be pushed back it there’s much rain this week,” Thomas said, “but we’ll send out another press release if that’s the case.”
