Update On Accidental Fatality At Bandelier

BANDELIER News:

An adult female park visitor died Monday, Oct. 3 in Bandelier National Monument after being struck by a falling tree while standing in a parking lot near the head of the Frey Trail.

Park rangers were notified of the incident at approximately 2:30 p.m. and park rangers, the Los Alamos County Fire Department and Los Alamos County Police Department responded to the incident.

“Bandelier National Monument staff is deeply saddened by this tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased,” Park Superintendent Jason Lott said.

The National Park Service is not releasing any other information about the deceased at this time. More information about the incident may be released after the investigation is complete.
