UPDATE: New Mexico Rail Runner Fatality

NMSP News:
SANTA FE  Around 3 p.m., May 13, the New Mexico State Police responded to a pedestrian fatality involving the New Mexico Rail Runner Express train. The incident occurred on the tracks nearest Interstate 25 at mile marker 275 in Santa Fe County.
Witness statements made to officers and the investigation at the scene indicate that James D. Chavarria, 21, of Santa Fe exited his vehicle, which was parked on the northbound interstate shoulder and crossed the roadway entering the median area occupied by train tracks.
Chavarria then ran onto the train tracks as the New Mexico Rail Runner Express train was passing him. Chavarria sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. 
The Office of the Medical Investigator was notified. No further details are available.
