UNM-LA News:
Spring classes at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) begin Tuesday, Jan. 17. Registration is open, and there is still available space in many classes.
Students can sign up for a variety of classes, including Spanish I, Digital Electronics I, Information Assurance and Security, Music Appreciation, Statistical Principles, Drawing, Engineering Statics, Earth History and Pilates.
“We are excited to launch the new Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program this semester,” UNM-LA CEO Dr. Cindy Rooney said. “After completing classroom time and passing competency tests, students will receive a UNM-LA certificate and be eligible to test for national certification. For students interested in health care, the EMT Basic program and a class in ‘Spanish for Medical Professionals’ are also offered this semester.”
The ‘Spanish for Medical Professionals’ will meet at 7 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. “This class will be beneficial to those interested in pursuing careers in the medical field as well as those currently working in health care,” Rooney said.
UNM-LA offers academic classes and academic programs in a variety of subjects to help students who are interested in increasing their knowledge, improving their skills, entering the workforce, or transferring to four-year degree programs. In addition to traditional face to face classes, UNM-LA also offers online and hybrid classes (a combination of face-to-face and online) to help meet the various scheduling issues and learning style preferences of students. There are a few classes that will start later in the semester as well.
UNM-LA classes are known for quality instruction, small class size, and reasonable tuition rates. Class size is typically fewer than twenty-five students taught by faculty with both appropriate academic credentials and work experience in their fields. Degree seeking students can choose between twenty Associate Degree program and six Certificate programs.
Those wishing to enroll can do so either online or on the UNM-LA campus. For questions or more information about enrollment, contact UNM-LA Student Services at 505.662.0332, or visit http://losalamos.unm.edu.
