UNM-LA News:

Registration for summer and fall 2018 credit classes is underway at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA).

Summer classes begin June 4, and the fall semester begins Aug. 20. Early registration is advised as classes have seating limits. Registration is available online or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the UNM-LA campus.

UNM-LA provides an exceptional quality of instruction, with faculty holding Ph.D.’s, and/or other appropriate credentials in their fields. Small class sizes allow instructors to tailor instruction to individual learning styles. The college provides support and resources to encourage student success, including academic and career guidance, and a free on-campus academic support center for tutoring activities.

In addition to traditional face-to-face classes, UNM-LA offers online classes and hybrid classes (a combination of face-to- face and online delivery) to help meet the various scheduling preferences and learning styles of students. There are also a variety of short courses, including classes that finish early or start later in the semester. An intersession class, CJ 101L, Intro to Communication, will be offered online between the Spring and Summer semester.

During past years, many students who are in Los Alamos for the summer have enrolled in UNM-LA classes. Some of these students take general education courses that transfer to other academic institutions. For example, Chemistry 111, Elements of General Chemistry meets on campus for lecture and lab sessions and ECON 105, Introductory Macroeconomics is available online. Another popular plan for students summering in Los Alamos is to take the EMS 113, EMT Basic and EMS 142, EMT Basic Lab courses. These courses are popular with students who are interested in medical programs and prepare students for the related National Registry Exam.

All students are eligible for in-state tuition during the summer session. Summer tuition for a full-time student (6-9 credit hours) including fees is $529.
