UNM-LA Spring Semester Schedules Available

UNM-LA News:

Course schedules for the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) spring semester have been distributed to newsstands in various locations in Los Alamos and White Rock as well as on the UNM-LA campus. Additionally, schedules will be arriving in area mailboxes soon.

Spring classes will begin Monday, Jan. 17, 2017, but students are encouraged to register now, before classes fill. An online version of the course schedule is available by visiting losalamos.unm.edu/academics/class-schedule.html. Click on the Spring 2017 tab.

UNM-LA students benefit from quality programs taught by highly qualified instructors at an affordable tuition rate. As a branch campus of the University of New Mexico, UNM-LA offers programs leading to Associate’s Degrees as well as Academic Certificates.

UNM-LA offers classes at the undergraduate level. The Spring 2017 semester will offer 170 undergraduate classes with 43 of those offered online. Upper division and graduate courses are offered through UNM Extended Learning.

Popular degree transfer programs include Pre-Professional Health, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Business, Computer Science, and Liberal Arts. Programs developed for our community in response to employer needs include Emergency Medical Services, Fire Science, Electro-mechanical, IT with Cybersecurity, Environmental Technology, Personal care Attendant, and Certified Nursing Assistant.

UNM-LA enrollment has been growing in recent semesters for both traditional and non-traditional students. The enrollment for the fall 2016 semester was 1,050 students, up 9 percent over the previous fall semester. The majority of students are part time, with an average age of 27.

An increasing number of high school students are taking classes at UNM-LA. Most are taking advantage of the Dual Credit courses where students can earn both high school and college credit while taking an approved course. By state law, dual credit students do not pay tuition or fees for the classes. During the last year academic year, 299 students from LAHS took dual credit classes at UNM-LA.
