UNM-LA News:

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos is inviting the community to attend “UNM-LA on Display,” which will highlight its faculty.

Approximately 15 faculty members will share their academic projects and innovations currently being used at UNM-LA.

“UNM-LA on Display” takes place 4-6:30 p.m .Thursday, April 25 in the Building 2 Lecture Hall and café area at UNM-LA and refreshments will be provided.

At 5:45 pm, the evening will end with retiring Dean of Instruction, Kate Massengale giving her “last lecture,”

In keeping with the academic tradition in this series, academics are asked to think deeply about what really matters to them and then give a hypothetical lecture as if it were their very last.

Massengale has been with UNM–LA since 1993. She began her UNM–LA career as an adjunct English instructor, and in 2009 became the first tenured associate professor at UNM–LA.

She took the position of Dean of Instruction in 2008, and has successfully led the Department of Instruction, as well as helping to guide the university in new and innovative directions since that time.

Massengale will retire as Dean of Instruction June 30.

Jackie La New, Accelerate Career Technical Advisor and Kay Willerton, Associate Dean of Instruction and Mathematics Department Chair at UNM-LA organized the event.

“UNM–Los Alamos has an incredibly talented faculty. We wanted to share this wonderful talent with our community, so we organized this event to showcase some of our faculty innovations,” Willerton said.
