Unity Message Planned For 2017 Festival Of Trees

COMMUNITY News:

The Betty Ehart Senior Center and Champions of Youth Ambitions are asking the community to help with a diversity project.

Following an ugly incident in which a local woman was verbally assaulted for her choice of apparel, a Unity Tree is being planned for the annual 2017 Festival of Trees event Nov. 18.

During the event, a tree is raffled off at $1 a ticket to afford everyone a chance to win.

This year organizers are asking the entire community to donate one ornament to a single CommUNITY tree. The beauty of Los Alamos is so many states and countries are represented here. Ornament donations can vary from collections that speak to one’s background: state, military service, college, sports team or other theme that helps show the melting pot of this community.

The 2017 Festival of Trees is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Direct questions about the community tree to 505.695.9139.
