Umbrella Children’s Theatre is thrilled to present Beauty and the Beast adapted by Rebecca Morgan and Katie Orr-Thomas, with original music by Melange. Our student actors range in age from 5 to 15 years old.

A self-centered, lonely prince is turned into a beast by a magic fairy so that he can learn his lesson before becoming King. Beauty and her younger sisters Prissy and Fluffy lose their family fortune when their father’s ships are looted by pirates. When father is lost in a storm and stumbles upon a mysterious castle with invisible servants, he risks everything by plucking a single rose to bring home to his Beauty. When Beauty and the Beast find each other, they must see beyond appearances to discover the goodness within if they are to live happily ever after…

UCT was founded in 1988 as Southwest Children’s Theatre Productions by Rebecca Morgan and Celeste Allerton. For 37 years, the company has equipped thousands of Northern New Mexico youth with skills that serve them as performing artists and human beings today, and prepare them for challenges faced tomorrow. With your ongoing generous support, we are able to offer our 2025 season tuition free.

Beauty and the Beast opens at 6 p.m., Friday, April 25, and plays at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at 6 p.m., Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday, May 3, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 4.

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for kids. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Reservations may be made by calling 505.424.1601. Advance tickets may be purchased at teatroparaguasnm.org.
