Udall To Attend Pope Francis’s Address To Congress With Santa Fe Archbishop Wester

WASHINGTON, D.C.  U.S. Sen. Tom Udall announced that the Most Rev. John C. Wester, Archbishop of Santa Fe, will be his guest at Pope Francis’s address to Congress on Thursday, Sept. 24.
 
Pope Francis will be the first pope to address a joint meeting of Congress, and the speech will be broadcast live on the West Front grounds of the U.S. Capitol.
 
New Mexicans interested in attending the outdoor simulcast of the pope’s address should contact Udall’s office. 
 
“Pope Francis’s address to Congress marks an important moment for our country,” Udall said. “I’m honored to have Archbishop Wester join me for for this historic event, and I’m also pleased to offer all New Mexicans the opportunity to watch the pope’s speech from the U.S. Capitol grounds. Anyone interested in attending should contact my office.”
 
Udall will be allotted 200 tickets for the simulcast, which will be distributed by lottery if ticket requests exceed availability. 
 
New Mexicans may request tickets by emailing jointmeeting@tomudall.senate. by Thursday, Sept. 10.
 
Please include your name, phone number, city of residence and the number of tickets requested.
 
Tickets to the event are free of charge and available only through congressional offices.
 
Tickets are not for resale and a limited number will be made available to each household. Travel and accommodations will be at the ticket holder’s expense.
