U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) invites New Mexico college students interested in gaining legislative or press relations experience to apply for summer internships in his Washington, D.C. office.

“Interns contribute greatly to the work my office does every day for the people of New Mexico,” Udall said. “Internships on Capitol Hill provide firsthand experience in how a Senate office works, offering students a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of our government.

“These internships include a wide variety of opportunities and responsibilities, including attending committee hearings and House and Senate floor proceedings, assisting with media outreach and communications, and researching legislation and drafting correspondence—all critical components to the daily operations of my office. Internships are an invaluable, educational experience for anyone interested in pursuing a career in government or public service, and I encourage all interested students to apply.”

The application period for summer 2020 internships is now open. Program dates in Washington are June 1 to Aug. 7. All summer placements are full-time. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2020.

Students of all majors are encouraged to apply and internships may count toward college credit. Students should check with their respective college or university for requirements.
