University of California News:
The University of California Board of Regents voted Thursday to authorize a bid for the $2.2 billion Los Alamos National Laboratory management and operations contract, which begins in October 2018.
The 10-campus UC has been involved with the Lab since the 1940s and since 2006, has been part of the LANS, LLC consortium, which holds the M&O contract.
A statement, issued by UC Regent Ellen Tauscher and UC Vice President for National Laboratories Kimberly Budil following the vote, said UC is committed to assembling a proposal that upholds LANL’s “long tradition of scientific and technological excellence and continued high quality and integrity of its critical security missions”.
