ALBUQUERQUE – U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich has announced his support of Los Alamos County Council Vice Chair Christine Chandler for New Mexico House Seat 43.

“Her strong stance of protecting the environment, her platform of economic development through expanding educational opportunities, and her experience in public safety and criminal justice make her the clear choice for House District 43,” Heinrich said.

Councilor Chandler has a long-time record of public service in the district, first as a probate judge, and then on the county council. She has a 27-year record of service as an attorney and group leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory and has served as an analyst in the House Judiciary during the last four New Mexico legislative sessions at the State Capital in Santa Fe.

“Study after study demonstrate that educational investments is an economic winner, and Christine’s initiatives to increase salaries to attract and retain quality educators, prioritize teaching over testing, and expand access to early childhood education are the path to prosperity,” Heinrich said. “Together we can make sure to send an experienced and thoughtful representative to the Roundhouse.”
