 U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury

From the Office of U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) released the following statement after voting Wednesday to hold advisors to the former president, Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino, in contempt of Congress:

“No one is above the law. That includes the former President and his advisors. Today, I voted to defend our democracy and hold Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino in contempt of Congress for their refusal to comply with the work of the U.S. House Select Committee Jan. 6.

“We must hold those responsible accountable and reveal the truth. The American people must know what happened Jan. 6 and those accountable must be brought to justice. As the House Select Committee continues to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, we must defend our Constitution, the rule of law, and our democratic institutions.”
