From the Office of U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández:
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández issued the following statement today after passage of Continuous Resolution to keep the federal government open:
“House Republican chaos took our nation to the brink of catastrophe again. They attempted to pass legislation that harmed children, farmers and ranchers, small businesses, and seniors to try and force a government shutdown. We stopped them. We made the case to the American people to New Mexicans and we won.
I voted for this 45 day extension of federal funding to make sure the federal government continues to provide essential services to Nuevo Mexicanos. Federal employees and our military will get paid. Law enforcement will continue to protect our communities. Seniors will continue to receive services from Medicare and Social Security. Veterans will continue to receive the benefits that they have earned.
I call on Republican leadership to stop playing political games with the lives of hard working families in our beloved communities. Let’s pass bipartisan legislation to fully fund the government along with aid to Ukraine so they can defend themselves against Putin’s evil war.
Enough political posturing. Let’s do our jobs before this CR runs out.”
