U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján Lays Out 2018 Priorities

U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján
From the Office of U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján:
ALBUQUERQUE U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján moved more than 1,500 Democrats statewide to action, rallying them Saturday during the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s Pre-Primary Convention to take back Congress in the 2018 midterm elections.

Luján focused on key issues for the Democratic Party such as veterans needs, healthcare, women’s rights and an economy that works for middle class families.

He also highlighted the importance of the 2018 midterm elections.

“2018 is a year of opportunity. Previous generations of Americans have confronted crises before, like the one we’re facing now – as demonstrated by Paul Ryan, Congressional Republicans and Donald Trump’s administration. In critical moments throughout our history, the Democratic Party brought our country together and out stronger every time. This is one of those moments,” Rep. Ben Ray said.

“We need to be focused on taking back the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and the New Mexico governor’s seat. As well as down ballot seats that are important to the fabric of our democracy and to restoring our democratic values.”

As delegates voted to select candidates for the primary election ballot, Congressman Luján received the nomination for the Third Congressional District. He is unopposed in the Democratic Primary.

Luján has been a strong proponent of modernizing democratic campaigns through his leadership role at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) by making grassroots fundraising a priority with an average contribution of $18.

Under his leadership, the DCCC also launched a first-of-its kind national grassroots training program to teach candidates and organizers to mobilize in their districts. He is also focused on developing new tools to to connect local activists with national party resources. Visit www.takeitback.com to learn more.
