ALBUQUERQUE – Moses Gutierrez was arrested Friday by the United States Marshals Service-Southwest Investigative Task Force (USMS-SWIFT).

The arrest of Gutierrez was based on several felony warrants out of Valencia County.

The warrants included two charges for receiving/transferring a stolen motor vehicle and two charges for dangerous drugs.

The arrest occurred after Gutierrez was positively identified at the Motel 6 on Avenida Cesar Chavez in Albuquerque.

This investigation was initiated by the New Mexico State Police, who along with the New Mexico Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole (Strategic Threat Investigations Unit), the Albuquerque Police Department and the United States Marshals Service worked jointly in this effort.

Two firearms were located and seized pursuant to the arrest of Gutierrez.

“Today’s arrest is significant because it brings us one step closer to a safer community, “ said Sonya K. Chavez, United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico. “Joint efforts like this one provide a powerful mechanism to go after our state’s most dangerous criminals and we will continue to focus our resources on arrests like this one,” she added.

“This arrest is a testament to the success of our partnership with our federal and local law enforcement agencies in New Mexico, which continues to help our state at a time when we need it the most,” said Tim Johnson, Chief of the New Mexico State Police. “New Mexicans will feel a bit safer knowing that multiple law enforcement agencies are working together in New Mexico, day and night to get violent repeat offenders off our streets.”
