PEEC News:
Join Santa Fe National Forest and the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for a trail workday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29.
There will be trail maintenance jobs for all ages and U.S. Forest Service experts will be on-site to provide instructions and ensure safety. This workday is limited to 20 participants due to the scope of the work and the availability of tools, so register soon!
The group will be working on the Pajarito Trail, off of Rendija Road, to improve trail tread and drainage. Participants will meet at the Rendija Canyon Trailhead at 9 a.m., pick up tools, receive instructions, and then hike past DOI land to the location they will be working on (about 1 mile, one-way, easy hike).
Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, and a hat. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and work gloves. Hard hats, tools, some extra pairs of gloves, and good company will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer (shovels and rakes will be helpful). Pre-registration is required to volunteer for this project.
