Stanley Paz of recruitment firm Ray and Associates Tucson office is in Los Alamos this week to gather community input for the search for a new superintendent for Los Alamos Public Schools.
Superintendent Gene Schmidt will be leaving the district in July.
In addition to meeting with members of the six search advisory committees and the LAPS Board, Paz will conduct a series of Town Hall meetings at which citizens may express their ideas about the qualifications and other attributes they would like to see in a new superintendent. This is also an opportunity to ask questions. Members of the School Board will be present, but Paz will conduct the meeting. There will be accommodation for Spanish speakers at the meetings. A Town Hall meeting took place at Chamisa Elementary Tuesday. Three more meetings are scheduled:
- 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at School Board Conference Room, The Conference Room is in the small building across the parking lot from the main School Administration Building.
- 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Los Alamos High School Speech Theater
- 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Los Alamos School District Conference Room, at 2075 Trinity Dr. The Conference Room is located in the small building across the parking lot from the main School Administration Building.
Paz will also be present at the School Board Meeting to take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 at Los Alamos High School (Lobby Area).
