Topper Girls & Boys Soccer Compete In Tournament

The Los Alamos High School Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer Teams were on the road this past weekend for the Albuquerque Academy Tournament, where each team played three games.
 
Eight girls and eight boys teams from around the state participated in the event.
 
The boys lost there first game Thursday to Cleveland 0-3, but came back strong Friday to dominate Farmington 4-0. Saturday’s final game against Santa Fe Prep was an evenly matched battle, ending in a shootout. Topper goalkeeper Jaxson Martines made three amazing saves in the shootout, to secure the Toppers’ win. The boys took 5th place in the tournament.
 
The girls started out Thursday with a loss to Piedra Vista 2-3, giving up two unanswered goals in the second half. Friday’s game was a dominating display by the Toppers, shutting out Goddard 3-0.
 
Saturday the girls played hard, despite a rain delay early in the first half. However, they ultimaterly fell to Sandia Prep 1-3 to finish 6th in the tournament.
