SPORTS News:
The annual Louie Cernicek Soccer Tournament was Friday and Saturday at Los Alamos Middle School Field and Sullivan Field. This year there were eight teams invited to participate.
The Toppers played their way through the brackets winning games against Aztec 10-0 and Goddard 5-0, which placed them against the Los Lunas Tigers for the championship game Saturday evening. Both teams played even and very strong defensive games and at the end of regulation play were tied 1-1.
The tiebreaker overtime was delayed by lighting, and when play resumed the Tigers scored the winning goal and won 2-1.
