Tonya Collins

Los Alamos resident Tonya Collins celebrated International Women’s Day, March 8, by giving free Mary Kay facials in her home and donating a portion of her sales to Esperanza House.
The first International Women’s Day (a movement to empower women and girls no matter where they live) was celebrated in 1911.
All across the country, Mary Kay consultants celebrated the day by volunteering their time and donating to a charity that helps women.
“Many consultants chose to give to the Mary Kay Foundation,” Collins said. “Because the Mary Kay Foundation is committed to stopping violence against women and finding cures for cancers that affect women. But I give to them already and wanted to give to a local organization.”
Collins has been a Mary Kay consultant for more than 16 years and feels a deep connection with its mission, enriching women’s lives.
Working for Mary Kay changed her life
“It has enriched my life. It has given me confidence, financial freedom and has helped me raise my children in a goal-oriented household,” Collins said. “I’m happy to be able to provide an example.”
In addition to providing Collins with a steady income while working from home, the Mary Kay organization has provided mentoring that has helped her develop a mindset for success.
“During our weekly sales meetings we get training in so many subjects, not just selling lipstick,” Collins said. “We also get trained in money management and time management. The company works around two principles: the first principle is to follow the golden rule and the second is God first, family second, career third. It helps us keep our priorities straight.”
Direct Sales works well in Los Alamos
“I have had a good experience working in direct sales in Los Alamos,” Collins said. “This is a small community, and it lets you have a personal touch and build relationships with your customers.”
It’s easy to get started as a Mary Kay Consultant, she said. Just purchase a start up kit for $100, which has more than $400 worth of full-sized products – everything needed to launch a new career. The company provides free training.
“New consultants earn full time pay for part time work.” Collins explained. “Mary Kay consultants also make the highest commission in direct sales.”
Collins is looking for new consultants to join her team.
She provides free facials, makeovers, bridal makeovers, spa parties and mother/daughter makeovers. People who meet with Collin for a free facial before the end of April will get their name entered into a drawing for a $500 visa card.
