ELECTION Day News:
Today is Primary Election Day 2022 and the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is sharing information to help voters cast their ballots.
Polls are open all day until 7 p.m. at the following polling places or Vote Centers:
- Los Alamos County Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave., Council Chambers;
- Los Alamos Golf Course, 4250 Diamond Dr., Multi-Purpose Room;
- White Rock Town Hall, 139 Longview Dr., Training Rooms;
- Betty Ehart Senior Center, 1101 Bathtub Row, Downstairs Classroom; and
- University of New Mexico-Los Alamos, 4000 University Dr., Building 6, Room 631.
Answers to common questions:
What if I do not receive my absentee ballot? If you applied for, but have not received your absentee ballot, you may go to any Vote Center and vote a replacement absentee ballot on Election Day, after signing an affidavit of non-receipt of absentee ballot (Section 1-6-16.1(A), NMSA 1978). You will be required to sign a sworn statement, under penalty of perjury, that you did not receive your ballot.
Reminder:
Absentee ballots may be hand delivered to the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office, any Secure Drive-Thru Ballot Drop Box, or any Election Day Vote Center in Los Alamos County. Absentee Ballots must be physically returned no later than 7 p.m. today, June 7 – Election Day to the Los Alamos County Clerk.
Note: Postmarks do not count; they must be physically received by 7 p.m. today – Election Day.
Do you need to register to vote or need to update your existing registration and vote the same day?
If you are registered with a Non-Major Party and would like to vote in the primary, you can switch to a major party and utilize the Same Day Voter Registration (SDVR). Visit a voting center to register today.
Items you need before you come:
- New Mexico driver’s license or New Mexico identification card issued through the motor vehicle division of the taxation and revue department.
- Any document that contains an address in the county together with a photo identification card.
- Valid student photo ID from a post-secondary educational institute in New Mexico accompanied by a current student fee statement that contains the student’s address in the county.
Please note: Pursuant to NMSA 1-7-5.7E, a voter who is with a political party Shall Not be allowed to change party affiliation when updating an existing certificate of registration or registering to vote at an early voting site or polling place during a primary election.
