FARMER’S MARKET News:

Bill Orr of Quarter Circle U, purveyor of fine jams and jellies and Joy Robertshaw of Taos Mountain Yaks have formed an interesting collaboration.

Orr, a fly fisherman and expert fly tyer, is now using hair from the tails of Robertshaw’s yaks in some of his flies. Not only is yak hair very long, it also has a translucent quality that makes it ideal for fly tying.

Robertshaw is selling packages of yak hair for fly tying at her Farmer’s Market Booth. Orr is selling hand-tied flies at his booth.

Orr, a fly fisherman and fly tyer for most of his life, will demonstrate the art of fly tying at the Quarter Circle U Booth at the Farmer’s Market Thursday.

Orr’s enthusiasm for fly tying is contagious. He drew his class at Mountain Elementary School into fly tying. Visit the Farmer’s Market Thursday to see how it’s done.
