SHELTER News:

Scarlet the Husky is still missing after nearly a month but there were three sightings of her on Sunday, so the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter is encouraged but still very concerned for her safety.

Her territory is DP Canyon next to the Rim Trail. She was seen as far a part as the cliff above Anderson Overlook and behind East Park Pool. Early morning and late evening are the times she is likely to appear. She is shy and hesitant but with a slow, careful approach, it may be possible for someone to gain her trust.

Scarlet may be ready to be rescued after being on the run nearly four weeks and the Shelter is asking the “generous and caring citizens of Los Alamos” to help. There is a $500 reward offered for her safe rescue. Scarlet is wearing a pink collar.

Anyone spotting Scarlet is urged to call the Shelter at 505.662.8179 or Los Alamos Police Dispatch at 505.662.8222.
