FOOD DEPOT News:

SANTA FE — The Food Depot has been named one of “The 40 Best Food Banks in America,” by 24/7 Wall St., a financial news and opinion website.

The Food Depot at 1222 Siler Road in Santa Fe, ranked 26 out of 40, with 24/7 Wall St. utilizing data from the charity-rating website, Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator evaluates nonprofits annually based on several factors including information on the organization’s website and their IRS 990 form.

“We are incredibly proud of this recognition,” Sherry Hooper, executive director of The Food Depot said. “With the support of our donors and volunteers, our ratio of funds raised to what is spent on programs is one of the best in our industry.”

Earlier this year, The Food Depot received recognition from Charity Navigator for it’s 11th consecutive 4-star rating, the highest rating awarded. According to a letter received from Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator, only 1 percent of the nonprofits evaluated earn this rating.
