The Family YMCA News:

It’s summer and that means Summer Camps and The Family YMCA is offering a number of different camps for the Summer of 2023. There will be a Summer Camp at Mountain Elementary School and a Summer Sports Camp at various locations such as Urban Park, Los Alamos County Ice Rink and the gymnasium at the Y.

This week The Family YMCA had Basketball in the Gym at the Y. Ben Sandoval with his assistant coaches (Brandon Sandoval, Mackenzie Echave, Samuel Carmer and Zachary Mauro) have been playing with more than 30 kids for a week that peaked with a visit from TJ Stukes.

Stukes has played 20 years of professional basketball and is now the Assistant Coach at Northern New Mexico College. Stukes brought energy, skills and an important message for the campers.

He played football and baseball before he played basketball, he worked hard on playing basketball and became a power dunker, he shattered more than 10 backboards during his career. Working hard is a skill! Set your goals and take that extra step towards making them come true!

Still have no plans for summer?
