AMERICAN LEGION News:

The Thanksgiving season is alive and well in Los Alamos and the American Legion is at it again.

Monday the organization donated a check for $500 to Rosemary Frederickson of the LA Cares food bank. Frederickson said this money will buy turkeys for many Los Alamos families for their Thanksgiving meals.

In this spirit of giving, the American Legion Riders Chapter 19 and American Legion Unit 90 Ladies Auxiliary donated a check for $400 to Los Alamos Police Cmdr. Oliver Morris for the Special Olympics.

American Legion Riders Chapter 19 Vice President Ed McDaris said the American Legion and its affiliated organizations take great pride in helping veterans but they also put a big effort into helping the community.
“We would like to thank the community for the support throughout the year and hope that all have a very peaceful Thanksgiving,” he said.
