Elmer and Deborah Torres of Pueblo de San Ildefonso cut the ribbon on their Than Povi Fine Art Gallery and Gift Shop Saturday morning .

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce hosted the grand opening event at the new gallery at 6 Banana Lane off U.S. 84/285 at Exit 176 next to Gabriel’s Restaurant.

“We are so pleased and excited to open our gallery here,” Deborah Torres said.

The Than Povi Gallery specializws in New Mexico Native American artists and boasts a large collection of the famous San Ildefonso Pueblo Black-on-Black Pottery from artists Maria Martinez, Erik Fender, Martha Fender, Adelphia Martinez, as well as other Native American artists such as Kathleen and Adrian Wall, Jemez Pueblo and many more.

The Than Povi Gallery also has a great selection of jewelry from various New Mexico Tribes, from well known artist Althea Carejo of Santo Domingo Pueblo and many others.

“We are proud to support the work of more than 25 New Mexico Native American artist,” Elmer Torres said.

Than Povi Gallery also carries a large selection of Native traditional clothing, footwear and Pendleton blankets.

The gallery will feature artist demonstrations the third weekend of each month.
