Teacher Of The Year Debra Minyard Heads To DC

White Rock resident and Pojoaque High School Teacher of the Year Debra Minyard attended the Public Education Department’s formal recognition event for the Teacher of the Year Awards from across New Mexico.
 
Minyard was presented the state award, as the torch was passed from Chamisa Elementary teacher Carolyn Torres, Minyard heads to Washington, D.C. this weekend where representatives from all 50 states will gather. A portion of their activities include meeting President Obama.
 
Minyard is a music educator for Pojoaque High School and leads the AVID and Link Crew programs. When she heads back up the hill each day to her home in White Rock, so does her work. Los Alamos High School added the LINK Crew and Los Alamos Middle School added WEB Crew to their schools this year. The transition programs welcome incoming freshmen and seventh graders to their new school homes in the Fall.
