The 62 silent auction items generously donated by local businesses and organizations can now be previewed on the website. The online silent auction will officially begins at 5 p.m. today and closes at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
“The platform we have chosen to use for the online auction makes it really easy to view items and place a bid,” said LAPS Foundation Executive Director Laura Loy. “Auction participants can ‘watch’ an item that interests them, place a bid, and receive a text if they have been outbid. They can even set up an auto bid so that every time they are outbid on an item, the system will automatically bid on their behalf up to an amount specified by the bidder. While attendance at the event is limited by space each year, this new platform allows us to open up the fun to more members of the community.”
Loy added that auction item winners will receive an email statement once the auction has closed. They can easily pay it online with a credit card, or call the Foundation to make other payment arrangements. Members of the LAPS Foundation Board have volunteered to personally deliver auction items to all winners within Los Alamos County. “That gives us another opportunity to thank those who have generously supported our schools,” said Loy.
