‘Take Out To Help Out’ … Support Local Restaurants!

––COUNTY News:

Los Alamos—where discoveries are made—is known for its groundbreaking science, rich history, and for being the Gateway to Three National Parks.

In addition to the area’s array of outdoor adventures and offerings for science and history buffs, Los Alamos is home to several acclaimed local dining and drinking establishments offering everything from craft brews to exceptional cocktails, fine dining, delectable sweets, and local twists on classic dishes.

With a theme of “Take Out to Help Out,” Los Alamos and White Rock restaurants are joining together with the Los Alamos Creative District to celebrate March 14–18 supporting local establishments.

“We invite all to discover the perfect spot to rejuvenate and refuel during your travels and support local restaurants during the Los Alamos Take Out to Help Out Week,” County Marketing Manager Kelly Stewart said. “Dining and drinking can be one of the most memorable parts of a trip and also the most telling of a town’s style and culture. It’s that precious time, in between activities when one can regroup, reenergize and process the experience. In Los Alamos, we’re thrilled to have a variety of offerings. At each stop, you’ll find something different to delight your taste buds. Eating or grabbing a drink in Los Alamos gives you a chance to enjoy our welcoming community, while also exploring dynamic local flavors.”

Los Alamos County boasts more than 40 food and beverage establishments, which can be identified in the locaRestaurant Guide. During the week of March 14, and beyond, the Los Alamos Creative District encourages locals and visitors to try new businesses from this list. If participants post photos on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #LosAlamosTakeOut (for takeout orders) or #DineInLosAlamos (for in-restaurant experiences) and tag the restaurant, if applicable, they’ll be entered to win local gift cards.

Recently, Los Alamos has seen an influx of new food and beverage offerings, including Mexican restaurant Muy Salsas, a physical location for the popular food truck Señor Tortas, new libations at The Long Pour adjacent to Boese Brothers Brewpub, as well as an upcoming Pig+Fig expansion The Cochon Café coming to downtown Los Alamos soon. Owner Laura Crucet was recently named Edible New Mexico’s Local Hero Winner.

Some establishments have also chosen to offer special promotions March 14-18, including Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op, Pajarito Brewpub and Grill, Boese Brothers Brewpub, and Bob’s Bodacious BBQ.

Enjoy $2 off Crowlers at Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op when you mention “Take Out to Help Out.” Ranking in the “30 Best Breweries in the American Southwest” by RAVE Reviews, Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op offers exceptional craft beers with locally sourced ingredients. Known to locals as the “tub,” Bathtub Row Brewing is named for the famous street of homes inhabited by the Manhattan Project scientists, including project director J. Robert Oppenheimer, the namesake for the tasty “Hoppenheimer” IPA. The brew tub is the fourth brewing cooperative in the nation and the first in New Mexico. While there, be sure to stop by the clawfoot tub for a one-of-a-kind photo op, and order a sampler of craft beers, served in a miniature clawfoot tub.

Receive 20 percent off your online order with promo code: PAJALOVE at Pajarito Brewpub and Grill. Try one of the rotating craft beers or a thoughtful, distinctive twist on pub favorites at Pajarito Brewpub and Grill—a favorite stop for craft beer aficionados and foodies. For your New Mexico fix, try a Brewpub favorite, and a finalist in the annual Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown, paired with a local craft beer.

Take $1 off growlers and $2 off any sandwich by mentioning “Take Out to Help Out” at Boese Brew Co—a family-owned local brewpub and distillery offering a menu of year-round beers, seasonal brews, cocktails, and green-chile enhanced food.

Enjoy daily specials at Bob’s Bodacious BBQ—a local favorite for fresh meats cooked daily. From pork, chicken, and brisket to mac and cheese, specialty sides and delicious desserts, you’ll find special deals on various menu items throughout the week.

“We encourage locals and visitors to try these great restaurants and drinking establishments in Los Alamos and support local,” Los Alamos Creative District Curator Jeremy Smith said.

The promotional restaurant program is made possible by a grant from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). For more information and specials at participating restaurants, visit https://www.creativelosalamos.com/team-4.
