Fr. Glenn: Please … Affirm Me!

By Fr. Glenn Jones

Was looking at Facebook this morning (yes, kids; old Fr. Glenn knows about Facebook), and noted that the number of “If you believe/agree with this, share!” or the guilt-attempting: “I bet I won’t get even 1 share!” posts. And, of course, who has not received myriad requests to “like” this or that, or to become “friends” with people of whose identity you have no clue—a “friend” of a friend of a friend of…” …in their attempt to “collect” as many “friends” as possible.

The trend is rather disturbing, actually—the persons posting such things seeming to be pleading: “Please … Read More

Fr. Glenn: Being Set Free

By Fr. Glenn Jones

Well, well, well … lookie here. President Trump is coming to town on the 16th. Well … to little ol’ New Mexico anyway. To the cynical observer that’ll be of endless entertainment value in the media for a week or two at least: the love pieces, the hate pieces, the “wish he’d go away!” pieces. Many of the state’s media moguls will be criticized for even mentioning the presence of “he who must not be named”, thereby accused of “promoting” him. But … would it be responsible journalism to neglect one of the biggest stories around, whether one is happy with it or not? … ignoring the “elephant Read More

Fr. Glenn: The Spirit And The Flesh

By Fr. Glenn Jones

How ‘bout that stock market Friday, huh? Ouch. Like a submarine under attack, it was “dive, dive, dive!” And the ol’ pitiful portfolio looked … well … pitifull-er. Good thing that retirement is not around the corner—age 115 is starting to look do-able. If the ol’ jalopy will last that long…

And yet, what a great couple of days! … for me, at least. Received happy news from one of my old parish staff, and got to see members of not one, but two!, of my old Los Alamos parish families. Being single, a Catholic priest’s parish becomes his family, and so each time some of them stop by after he’s Read More
