SANTA FE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham concluded her time at the U.N. Climate Change Conference Sunday in Glasgow, Scotland, when she committed the state to further high-impact climate actions alongside other national governors.
The governor joined the United States Climate Alliance and the governors of Hawai’i, Illinois, Oregon and Washington to make climate action commitments around energy, buildings, industry, transportation, just transition and equity, resilience, natural and working lands, and the social cost

SANTA FE — No need to worry about the predicted Christmas tree shortage this year. All you have to do is purchase a permit to cut your own Christmas tree on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF). Over-the-phone and online sales will begin Monday, Nov. 22.
Permits can be purchased online through Recreation.gov and printed at home as a convenient alternative to calling a SFNF office to purchase your permit over the phone. LANL: Researchers At Los Alamos Are Applying Machine Learning To Refine Earthquake Detection Capabilities

Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are applying machine learning algorithms to help interpret massive amounts of ground deformation data collected with Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) satellites; the new algorithms will improve earthquake detection.
“Applying machine learning to InSAR data gives us a new way to understand the physics behind tectonic faults and earthquakes,” Bertrand Rouet-Leduc said, a geophysicist in Los Alamos’ Geophysics group. Read More

The State Department of Game and Fish continued its stocking of fingerling Rio Grande cutthroat trout this week.
The Department stocked 2,011 cutthroat trout Nov. 2 in the Rio Cebolla. This stocking likely occurred in the Rio Cebolla above Fenton Lake rather than below it.
From the Seven Springs Day Use Area to the headwaters, the Rio Cebolla is limited to fishing with flies and lures with a single, barbless hook. The fishing is catch-and release for cutthroat trout.
There is no limit on rainbow trout, brook trout and brown trout.
