Golden Acrobats Perform Sept. 15 in Los Alamos

The Golden Acrobats perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 in Duane Smith Auditorium at Los Alamos High School. The event is a fundraiser for the 2013 Gordons' Summer Concert Series. The Los Alamos Daily Post is sponsoring the event. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children under 16. Performing Arts Center Presents 'Parted Waters' Sunday Aug. 26

Los Alamos Little Theatre and Teatro Paraguas of Santa Fe are teaming up to produce a New Mexico Statehood Centennial Event in Los Alamos.
Parted Waters by local playwright, Robert F. Benjamin, will be produced at the Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St., at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.
The performance will be directed by Fran Martone, who starred in the Los Alamos production of Time Enough and directed Galileo's Footsteps and Manhattan Glass at the 2011 Atomic

Local Actors Perform in Missoula Children’s Theatre Production

Members of a cast of local actors performed in a dress rehearsal July 25 for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast held July 28 at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road. Missoula Children’s Theatre is sponsored by the Los Alamos Arts Council and is funded in part by Los Alamos County.
The theater group comes to town with the set, lights, costumes, props and make-up—everything it takes to put on a play. The team holds open auditions and casts 50–60 local students, who rehearse throughout the week and present a public performance. Housing was provided by

Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly encouraged for the High Tea and Fashion Show because this event has sold out the last two years.

The House of Hope ladies’ mission team and the co-ed Trinity Builders team warmly invite the community to join them again this year for a sumptuous tea, followed by a stylish fashion show.

The afternoon’s activities are intended to raise funds for house-building mission trips to Juárez, Mexico.

Bridge Club Hosts 3-Day Sectional Tournament

The Los Alamos Contract Bridge Club is hosting the "Atomic City Sectional"  tournament at the Betty Ehart Senior Center Friday through Sunday.

Up to 100 visitors will be in town, some staying two to three nights and looking for a good meal.

If you want to play, sessions start at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27.

A partner is helpful, but not necessary. Visitors welcome.

Participants will test their skills at the Ponderosa Putt-Putt Tournament. The tournament is broken into three age groups, 5-7, 8-11 and 12+.

Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each age group.

The Los Alamos Community Winds performed The Stars & Stripes Forever as a sky diver parachutes toward the lawn at Overlook Park before an intense cloud burst sent everyone fleeing for shelter - effectively ending the holiday event.

Longmire Television Series Filming This Week in Los Alamos and at the Ski Hill

This week, Los Alamos residents will see those familiar yellow and black signs guiding film talent and production crews through town to base camps and film sites within the County.

These signs will post the letters “LM”—for Longmire, The hour-long drama series from Warner Horizon Television, which began filming in March of this year in Santa Fe, Las Vegas and the surrounding areas.

Filming is scheduled to begin tomorrow through Thursday at private homes in Los Alamos and at the Ski Hill.
