The UNM-Los Alamos Advisory Board and the UNM-Los Alamos Fundraising Committee will host “An Evening with Dr. Terry Wallace” Aug. 15 at Fuller Lodge.

Wallace is the 11th director of Los Alamos National Laboratory and president of Los Alamos National Security, LLC.

The evening begins with a reception at 6:15 p.m., with h’oeuvres catered by Secret City Kitchen and beverages served by the Pajarito Brewpub. Los Alamos High School Class of 1968 will hold its 50th reunion starting Friday, Sept. 28 and running through Saturday, Sept. 29.

The schedule for Sept. 28 includes:

  • 1-3 p.m. Registration at Fuller Lodge
  • 3-4 p.m. Homecoming Parade starting at Canyon School
  • 4-7 p.m. Dinner at Fuller Lodge. The dinner will be catered by Pig+Fig
  • 7 p.m. Homecoming Football Game  at Sullivan Field

Game & Fish Offers Special Hunter Education Camp At Philmont Scout Ranch Near Cimarron

CIMARRON The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is offering a special hunter education camp where youth can receive hands-on training and earn their hunter education certification for free.
 
To hunt legally in New Mexico, youths under 18 years of age must first successfully complete a hunter education course or be registered in the department’s Mentored-Youth Hunting Program.

Heinrich, Udall Announce $249K Grant For Native American Language Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced that the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Indian Education Department’s Diné Bizaad & A:shiwi Language Program has received a $249,438 grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
 
The funding will support three years of instruction of both the Navajo (Diné) and Zuni (A:shiwi) languages in APS schools at the elementary and middle school levels.

The results are in for the 341 students at Los Alamos High School who took a total of 613 AP® exams this past May. This year, 80 percent of students received scores of 3 or higher on their exams.
