The Los Alamos County Environmental Services Department this week will be collecting trash and recycling materials.

The Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Division has placed sand at the following locations to fill farolito bags:

  • North Road at Lower Pueblo Canyon crossing;
  • Deer Trap on Barranca Mesa;
  • Soccer Field parking lot on North Mesa; and
  • The parking lot by the transfer station in White Rock.

On the Job in Los Alamos are Los Alamos County Information Management employee Shirley Huber and Public Works Facilities employees Tim Martinez, left, and Emiliano Martinez. Three years ago, Los Alamos Public Schools began collaborating with Los Alamos County when Environmental Services Manager Angelica Gurule invited them to bring their student entries to the County’s annual fashion show. Since then, they decided to join forces to encourage more participation from the community.

Water Main Break On Ridgeway In Denver Steels

Traffic Alert:

There is a water main break in the road on Ridgeway in the Denver Steels area. Department of Public Utilities crews are setting up traffic control devices.

Ridgeway Drive will be closed to through traffic while repairs are completed.

Residents will be allowed access to and from their homes. No disruption to water services are expected.

Crews estimate that repairs will be completed by mid-afternoon today.

To promote recycling and sustainability in the community as well as to encourage people to take small steps to a more sustainable life, the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division, the Environmental Sustainability Board and the Zero Waste Team sponsored the Peoples Eco Challenge.
 
Environmental Services would like to congratulate Chamisa Elementary Green Team, the team winner, with 7,271 points and our individual winners, 1st place Heather Ward with 1,141 points, 2nd place Sara Thurgood-Martinez with 970 points, and 3rd place Gavin Bent with 964 points.

Reminder: Property Taxes Delinquent After Tuesday

COUNTY News:

Property owners are reminded that the first half of property taxes will become delinquent after Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Payment must either be made in person at the Customer Care Center by 4 p.m., Dec. 10 or postmarked by midnight that same day to avoid late payment penalty and interest charges.

The Customer Care Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, in the lobby of the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.
