The new sprinkler system work is well under way on the front nine, which is closed for at least the next two months. The new system is badly needed to replace the aging system and add new features to improve overall performance to the entire irrigation system. Traffic Alert: Water Line Break 33rd Near Aspen School

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews are responding today to a water line break on 33 Street near Aspen Elementary School south of Villa Street.
Customers in the area are experiencing low water pressure.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 255 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County remains at 14 cases that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update announces 7 additional deaths reported in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:
- 88 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 15 new cases in Chaves County

Crews Continue Efforts To Knock Down Quemazon Fire
COUNTY News:
Forest Service crews continue working on the Quemazon Fire with LAFD providing assistance.
Individuals are reminded that entrances to the Quemazon Trail and Pipeline Trail continue to be closed for public safety.
The Los Alamos Reservoir is an active part of fire-fighting efforts underway.
Members of the public are asked to refrain from visiting Los Alamos Reservoir, as helicopters are resuming water retrieval activities for fire suppression using water from the reservoir. Read More

Los Alamos citizens are invited to view an update on the Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP) presented by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS), NuScale Power, Fluor and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Storms Have Passed And Firefighters Resume Operations
Due to rain Los Alamos Firefighters temporarily left the scene but the storms have passed so they are back at work on the Quemazon fire.
Access continues to be restricted to Quemazon and Pipeline trails.
A helicopter is conducting water drops on the fire using water from Los Alamos Reservoir. Individuals are asked not to travel to Los Alamos Reservoir, which is an active part of fire operations at this time.
Four Small Fires Burning In Quemazon/Pipeline Trail Area
Smoke from one of four small fires burning in the Quemazon/Pipeline Trail area on Pajarito Mountain is visible at noon today from the Mountain View Condominiums on Trinity Drive. Los Alamos County Fire Chief Troy Hughes explained that the fires are most likely sparked by lightning from an overnight storm. He said the fires are not very large and don’t appear to pose a threat to the Ski Hill or Lodge. More details and photos from the scene will be published shortly. It may come as no surprise that enforcement of the nuisance code continues to be a controversial topic in our community.
When I was appointed to the Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB) in January, I realized something needed to be done to move forward with the entrenchment that has stalled the board and county.
