Bandelier Will Be Fee Free On Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a time to honor all those who have served in the nation’s military.
 
To commemorate, Bandelier and other National Park areas all over the country that regularly charge entrance fees, will be fee free on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.
 
As usual on fee free days, the Western National Parks Association (WNPA) will be offering a 15 percent discount on everything at the park store in the Bandelier Visitor Center in Frijoles Canyon Monday as well.

ALBUQUERQUE All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ offices, including the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center, will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
 
The department urges claimants to plan accordingly.

Thousands Of New Mexicans Call For Wildlife Protections In Santa Fe; Carson National Forest Plans

SANTA FE A diverse coalition of New Mexico conservation organizations, sportsmen and women and public land advocates, called for stronger protection of critical wildlife habitat, clean water and wildlife migration corridors in the Upper Rio Grande Watershed.
 
The group delivered more than 23,000 public comments to the U.S. Forest Service calling for improvements to the Carson and Santa Fe National Forests’ land management plans.

SFNF Waives Fees On Veterans Day

SFNF News:
 
SANTA FE The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will waive fees at many recreation sites on Veterans Day Monday, Nov. 11, in honor of Americans who have served in the armed services.
 
All SFNF offices will be closed that day in observance of the federal holiday. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Nov. 12.
 
The Forest Service participates in fee-free days with other federal agencies to commemorate holidays and encourage Americans to visit their public lands. Veterans Day is the final fee-free day for 2019. The next fee-free day will be Martin Luther King, Jr.

BLM Quarterly Oil & Gas Lease Sale Nets $18,394,059

SANTA FE — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) New Mexico raised $18,394,059 Thursday in its quarterly oil and gas lease sale.
 
Nearly 50 percent of the revenue from the sale will go to the states where the oil and gas activity occurs—in this case New Mexico and Oklahoma—while the rest will go to the U.S. Treasury.
