LASG Three Xcel Diamond Gymnasts Qualify To Level 9

LASG News:

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics (LASG) hosted their annual Halloween Cupcake Meet this past Saturday Oct. 23.

Ignite gymnastics from San Ignacio, Colo., brought 36 Xcel gymnasts to Los Alamos to compete.

Three of LASG’s Diamond/Level 8 gymnasts chose to compete in the Developmental Program as opposed to the Xcel program for this meet. All three gymnasts scored high enough to qualify out of level 8 into level 9. (The Elite gymnasts you see in the Olympics and other international meets are the best of the Level 10 gymnasts in the U.S.).

Topper Varsity Teams Play In State Championship Quarterfinal Games At Sullivan Field Saturday

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School Varsity Soccer teams will play in the State Championship Quarterfinals this Saturday at Sullivan Field.

Girls will play Artesia at noon, followed at 2 p.m. by the Boys versus Highland.

All tickets are $5. No Passes or LAPS IDs will be accepted.

Topper Girls, Boys Soccer Both Get Byes In Opening Round Of Soccer Playoffs

Los Alamos’ boys and girls soccer teams both earned byes into the second round of the Class 4A playoffs, which get going Tuesday.

Tuesday’s first-round match-ups in 4A will pit seeds 5-12 against each other, with the top four seeds in both the boys and girls awaiting those first-round winners this coming weekend.

Despite dropping its final game of the regular season, Los Alamos’ boys earned the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.

Nearly 30 youth cyclists competed in the first annual “Pajarito Youth Bike Fest”, which is a grass roots style youth mountain bike race.

The Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Girls Soccer team hosted the Pojoaque Valley Elkettes Thursday afternoon at Sullivan Field where the Toppers secured their sweep of the district championship with a 10-0 win.

Their 6-0 district record will hopefully position them well for the state playoffs. The state champion brackets will be determined Sunday.

They continued their perfect 5-0 record in district play with a 3-0 win over the visiting Taos Tigers.

Like most matches between the two teams, the volleyball showdown between the Los Alamos Hilltoppers and the Pojoaque Valley Elkettes Tuesday night went down to the wire.

And, much like most of the recent contests between the two teams, the Hilltoppers prevailed.
