Pajarito Opens Three Lifts And 12 Trails

Pajarito Mountain Ski Area recently received recognition by Skiing Magazine and National Geographic Magazine as well as New Mexico’s association of ski resorts.

Thanks to this week’s winter storms, nearly two feet of snow have aAdropped on the mountain and resort officials announced that most of the skiable terrain will be open for powder skiing this Saturday, Dec. 19.

Scenes From Sunday’s Jingle Bell Rock ‘N Run

The crowd takes off in Sunday’s Jingle Bell Rock ‘N Run hosted by the Los Alamos High School Band to raise money for their upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.  The fun run included a choice of 5K or 1 mile runs and is modeled after the popular Rock and Roll marathons featuring live music along the routes.  Students from LAHS and Los Alamos Middle School played holiday tunes for the runners. Topper Girls Fall To Class 6A Power Volcano Vista 61-43

Fresh off their 68 to 16 rout of the Albuquerque High Bulldogs, the Class 6A Volcano Vista Hawks visited Griffith Gym Saturday night looking for an easy win over the Class 5A Toppers. 

Instead they were met by Coach Nestor Trujillo’s team of determined and hustling Topper girls. Lisa Villareal’s Hawks were athletic and deep in talent. Volcano Vista led by 7 at halftime, but when the Toppers closed the lead to only 4 points in the third quarter, Coach Villareal was forced to call time out.

Members of the Los Alamos Precision Rifle Team recently traveled to Colorado Springs and competed in the Winter Airgun Championships, which also are Olympic team trials matches.
 
On the final day, current team member sophomore Samantha Miller and member of the Los Alamos 2015 Navy Precision Champion team was squadded next to Jodi Cull-Host, senior team captain of the U.S. Naval Academy rifle team and member of the 2012 Los Alamos Navy Precision Championship team.
