10th Annual Pajarito Trail Fest Saturday

The aspens are aflame on Pajarito Mountain this month. On October 15, trail runners converge on one of the most breathtaking courses to join the Pajarito Trail Fest, a popular nonprofit race.
 
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Trail Fest is hosted by Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, on the outskirts of Los Alamos in the Jemez Mountains. A 10k- and 15-mile race begin 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Los Alamos NJROTC Narrowly Defeats Granbury MCJROTC

NJROTC News:
 
Los Alamos NJROTC edged out Granbury MCJROTC 1497 to 1494 last week in the National Air Rifle League.
 
Their second win in a row, Los Alamos NJROTC is in first place in their Division with a 2 – 0 record. Los Alamos NJROTC was led by Samantha Miller who shot a 376. The remaining contributing members were Holly Hayes, Jacob Torrez, and Stephanie Nielsen. Los Alamos NJROTC is from Los Alamos, NM, and is coached by Wes Shumaker.

Granbury MCJROTC dropped to 1 – 1 on the season. They are currently in fourth place in their Division. Granbury MCJROTC was led by Kayla Hitshew

While the LAHS XC Varsity and JV teams were in Colorado at the Titan Thunder Invitational, the C-Team Boys and Girls ran up in the JV races at the Northern New Mexico Challenge, held Saturday at the San Ildefonso Pueblo.
 
The athletes made the most of the beautiful fall day – the Boys won and the Girls took second to Pojoaque on the sandy three mile course.

Los Alamos U13 Boys U13 Tie Amarillo In Duke City Soccer Action

The LAFC Lasers U13 boys tied 2-2 Saturday, Oct. 1 in action against the Amarillo Lightning SC in Bernalillo at the State Soccer Complex. 
 
Down 2-0 at halftime, the Lasers mounted an exciting comeback, putting pressure on the Lightning defense all game with a great team effort. Stephen Boone scored with 5 minutes to play after winning the ball from the Amarillo defender inside the penalty box.

In White Rock, the Girls U10 Sutherland Lasers won 3-2 against Santa Fe Martinez. Goals were scored by Gala Nelson, Kailey Thwaits and Tirryn Sutherland with great assists by Destiny Montoya and Kylee Lovato.
