Sam Logan, hired six months ago as manager of the Los Alamos County Golf Course, brought both experience and dreams of improvement to his new job–but it was really the local school system that brought him here.

Los Alamos NJROTC defeated Lafayette AJROTC 1502 to 1445 last week in the National Air Rifle League.
 
Los Alamos NJROTC finishes the regular season in second place in their Division with a 6-1 record. Los Alamos NJROTC was led by Samantha Miller who shot a 386. The remaining contributing members were Holly Hayes, Stephanie Nielsen and Jacob Torrez. Los Alamos NJROTC is coached by Wes Shumaker.

Two Southern New Mexico Communities Receive Housing Improvement Grants

ALBUQUERQUE ― USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner announced a grant of $50,000 to Tierra del Sol Housing, Inc. to make improvements to six homes in Columbus and Anthony in southern New Mexico.
 
The funds were made available through USDA Rural Development’s Housing Preservation Grant Program, which provides financial support in the form of a grant to help non-profits and public entities make repairs to existing housing for low income residents in rural communities.

The LAYSL U11 Pumas ended the season playing in the Nov. 12-13 season ending, Duke City Gaylord Sheppard Soccer Tournament in Bernalillo. 
 
This is the first year this group has been together as a Competitive Team and their First Tournament. The Pumas finished the regular season with 2 wins, 2 ties and 4 losses in the Bronze Division of the Duke City League. The Pumas were entered in the Bronze Division and played 2 games Saturday, winning them both, 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.

Coming off of a very successful opening weekend, Sipapu received 4 inches of fresh snow overnight.

Sipapu’s mountain crews will begin snow making efforts once again this evening, continuing through the rest of the week as conditions permit, mostly during night hours. More terrain and additional lifts, including Lift 1, will come online and be available as conditions permit.

Shooting their highest score of the season, Onate NJROTC upset Los Alamos NJROTC 900 to 876 last week in the National Air Rifle League.
 
Onate NJROTC was able to win despite averaging 6 points lower than Los Alamos NJROTC coming into this game.

Onate NJROTC finishes the season in fourth place in their Division with a 5-2 record. Onate NJROTC was led by Izabell Homer who shot a 245. The remaining contributing members were Sariah Salas, Angel Day and Damon Moran. Onate NJROTC is from Las Cruces and coached by Robert Rodriguez.

The Los Alamos High School Girl’s Basketball teams battled Farmington in their first games of the season Nov. 19 in Griffith Gymnasium.

The day started off with the C team playing in the early afternoon. Hopes were high and so was the score of the C team’s first game as the LAHS players brutally beat the Scorpions 61-15.
