The Los Alamos High School Track & Field teams traveled to El Paso, and impressed some big Texas schools last Friday and Saturday at the Fred Loya Invitational. The Hilltopper Girls won the meet over previously undefeated host Eastwood High School, and the Boys finished second to Eastwood.

Texas Rangers Opens Applications For Baseball & Softball Grants In New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana And Oklahoma

Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation News:

ARLINGTON — For the 13th consecutive year, Globe Life and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation are partnering to provide grants for baseball and softball programs across New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

The Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Baseball & Softball Grant Program is designed to grow youth participation in the sports by funding grant proposals for an array of community initiatives focused on improving baseball and softball programming.

Atomic City Road Runners Begins 50th Season April 2

ACRR News:

The Atomic City Road Runners Club (ACRR) will open its 50th pace race season, weather permitting, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the Canyon Rim Trailhead across from the Los Alamos Co+op Market on East Road (N.M. 502). 1 and 3 mile paved courses will be available.

Membership applications are available on the Club’s website and also on site at the race. Applications may also be mailed to ACRR at P.O. Box 298, Los Alamos, New Mexico 87544 or brought in person to the first few runs.

Los Alamos High School 2023 graduate Carson Hick has qualified for the NCAA Division 1 National Swim Championships scheduled for March 27-30, 2024 in Indianapolis, Ind.

This meet is the premier competition in the U.S., where the top 30 athletes in each event of the NCAA are invited to compete. National Championship time standards are more difficult than the Olympic Trials.

The Hilltoppers Varsity Tennis teams were victorious in the Santa Fe Triad Tournament held March 9, 2024.  

The Toppers travelled to Santa Fe to take on Santa Fe Prep and St. Michael’s in a Triad style tennis tournament, consisting of 6 singles and 3 doubles matches against each opponent. Read More

Toppers Close Out 2024 Season With Strong Finish

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers played their final game of 2024 with a strong finish against #1 seed Highland Hornets in the Hornets gymnasium in Albuquerque. The Toppers were awarded the #16 seed and came very close in upsetting the Hornets in the playoff games as part of the 4A State Championships. The Toppers led at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters but the Hornets pulled ahead in the 4th quarter and won the game 57-51. In this week’s stocking report there are several stockings of small rainbow trout that number in the tens-of-thousands.  

These stockings are done primarily in the larger lakes and rivers of New Mexico that are big enough for the small fish to survive, fertile enough for the fish to thrive and grow Io a catchable-size and have cooler temperatures so the fish can survive year-around.
