The Bride of Christ.

The prophet Hosea had a unique situation; God commanded him to marry a woman who would be unfaithful to him. Hosea’s wife, Gomer, constantly left him in order to prostitute herself out to others; sometimes bearing their children. She showed no remorse for her actions, but Hosea persisted in trying to win her back.

In spite of humiliating circumstances, Hosea was faithful to his wife and tried to get her to be faithful to him as well. At one point, Hosea actually bought back his wife from another man that she has left him for.

God tells the prophet, Isaiah, that the Hebrew people “seem” to be eager to know God’s ways. He tells Isaiah that they act like a nation that is doing what is right. They ask God to make just decisions for them, and they “seem” to “be eager for God to come close to them” (Isaiah 58:1-2).

The problem is that they only “seem” to be that way. In every religious aspect they appear to be the people of God.

Faith & Science Forum: ‘What Makes Us Human?’ May 19

LAF&SF News:

The Los Alamos Faith & Science Forum is holding a series on the topic “What Makes Us Human?”. The next session is May 19.

The group meets at Kelly Hall at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church. A video/presentation begins at 6 p.m., followed by a large group discussion at 6:30 p.m., then an optional, informal small group discussion at 7 p.m. ending at 7:20 p.m. Feel free to bring your dinner. New Mexico is host to the world’s largest PowWow. The 34th annual Gathering of Nations PowWow 2016 was well attended and a most spectacular event. VBS Just Three Weeks Away

 
VBS News:
 
Los Alamos Church of Christ will kick off summer break with “Knights of Light.” Knights of Light is a Vacation Bible School based on the Full Armor of God found in the Bible book of Ephesians.
 
The dates and time are 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 31 through Friday, June 3. All children ages 4-9 are invited. Children ages 10-12 may attend as helpers.
