The Los Alamos County Ice Rink is scheduled to open Tuesday, Nov. 15. 

Opening Day begins with:

  • Adult – noon time skating 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;
  • Public Skating – 1:30-3:30 p.m.;
  • Youth Stick & Puck – 3:45-5:15 p.m., and;
  • Youth Hockey Practices – 5:30-10:30 p.m.

Bandelier Announces Launch Of Electrical Project

Following more than two years of planning, a long-needed project to replace the 60-year-old main electrical service line into Frijoles Canyon in Bandelier National Monument is expected to begin Nov. 14, and extend into May of 2017. The work will be Monday through Friday.

Shark teeth in New Mexico? Saturday, Nov. 19, local geologist Patrick Rowe will lead an outing to Cabezon in search of fossils.

Warm Weather Delays Sipapu Ski Resort’s Opening

Vadito — Sipapu Ski Resort officials announce the ski area is delaying its opening a week due to unseasonably warm weather.  The resort was originally scheduled to open Saturday, Nov. 12, one of the earliest openings in resort history.

SFNF Completes 2016 Objectives In SF Watershed

SANTA FE  After assessing the positive outcome of the prescribed burn in the Santa Fe Municipal Watershed, fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) announced that resource objectives for 2016 have been met and there will be no more ignitions in the Watershed this year.

Bandelier National Monument, Valles Caldera National Preserve, and Manhattan Project National Historical Park (NHP), have announced that the National Park Service and other federal agencies will offer one more Fee Free Day this year, Thursday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
 
On that day, federal areas nationwide, including Bandelier and the Valles Caldera, will offer free admission to everyone. Manhattan Project NHP has no entry fee.
