News Alert:

A water main break has occurred on San Ildefonso Road on North Mesa and customers east of Camino Uva may experience little to no water pressure.

Department of Public Utilities crews estimate water will be restored by midnight.

Department officials offer the following consideration to customers once water is restored:

Water may at first appear murky due to entrained air. This problem will resolve itself in a day or so;
For a day or two there may be a small amount of sediment or rust in the water that has been stirred up from the bottom of the water main. While aesthetically unpleasant,

WASHINGTON, D.C. ― U.S. Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M) released the following statement Thursday on Senate passage of a Udall-cosponsored, bipartisan resolution condemning all forms of anti-Semitism.

The resolution recognizes and condemns the long history of anti-Semitism, and the fact that Jews are the targets of the majority of hate crimes committed against any religious group in the United States.

State Makes Some Improvement in Child Poverty, Among Other Indicators

ALBUQUERQUE— New Mexico is once again ranked 50th out of the 50 states for child well-being by the 2019 KIDS COUNT® Data Book, released today by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. This is the third time the state has ranked last in the nation. New Mexico fell to 50th in 2013, then again in 2018.

Louisiana ranked 49th this year, bumping Mississippi up to 48th. New Hampshire ranked first.

AGU: Climate Change May Shift Summer Thunderstorms

Climate change could affect the regularity of summer afternoon thunderstorms in some parts of the world, according to new research.

A new study in the AGU journal Geophysical Research Letters modeled weather patterns in western Germany, northern France and parts of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, under climate change.

In April of 2017, writer Kyle Dickman of Los Alamos went on a wildflower walk in Yosemite with his family, including his then 3-month-old son.

On that outing he was bitten by a rattlesnake. The next six hours were harrowing. After being extracted by helicopter from the canyon, he spent eight days in the hospital.

Udall, Heinrich, Haaland Urge USPS To Swiftly Improve Albuquerque Post Office Facilities

Brennan urging the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to implement recommendations made by a recent audit report issued by the USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG) regarding serious deficiencies at post office facilities in Albuquerque.
