Sept. 6 at 10:45 a.m. / A juvenile from Santa Fe reported being the victim of battery at Los Alamos High School and a Los Alamos juvenile was charged with aggravated battery and referred to the juvenile probation officer while a Santa Fe juvenile was charged with public affray and referred to the juvenile probation officer.

NMDOT News:
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Five began construction Friday of a new roundabout at the intersection of West Gutierrez Street and Cities of Gold Road in Pojoaque.
The project includes installation of a new sidewalk with curb and gutter, improved drainage and new lighting.
Universal Constructors, Inc. of Albuquerque is the contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed in December.
The intersection of West Gutierrez Street and Cities of Gold Road will remain closed while work is in progress.

JEMEZ RANGER DISTRICT News:
Santa Fe – The Jemez Ranger District will begin implementing two prescribed burns including the Guacamalla Pile burn located near the Ponderosa Camp Ground and the Vallecitos Broadcast Burn located off N.M. 4 nearer to the Valle Caldera southwest corner.
These projects will be implemented after Sept. 17, conditions permitting. Due to the location and elevation it will be visible from all directions coming into the Jemez Mountain area.

A two-car collision occured at approximately 11:15 a.m. today, at the corner of Trinity Drive and Diamond Drive.
The driver of a small black vehicle told the Los Alamos Daily Post that he had been driving behind a red car at the corner of Trinity Drive and Oppehiemer Street
DPU News:
Due to weather, officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities have indicated that a lane closure scheduled to occur Thursday, Sept. 13 will now occur Friday, Sept 14.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the eastbound traffic lane on East Road near Los Alamos County Fire Station 6 and Tewa Loop will close.
Construction crews replacing a section of natural gas line along the south side of East Road will excavate into the closed lane to tie the new line into the gas distribution system.
No interruption of gas services is expected.

Solemn ceremonies are taking place around the community and throughout the nation today; remembering lives lost and heroes who rose up when terrorists attacked America 11 years ago.
At 8:45 a.m. on the clear Tuesday morning of Sept. 11, 2001, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
The impact left a gaping, burning hole near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors.

Los Alamos Police Det. Daniel Roberts is instructing a Cyber-Safety Class from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.
The class is hosted by the Family Strengths Network and will be taught at its facility at 1900 Diamond Dr. in the Pueblo Complex.
The issues covered will be directed for parents about the danger their children can encounter using modern technology:
• Social Networks and peer pressure
• Cyberbullying
• Teens, texting and technology
• Online games
• Chatrooms and predators
Cost is $10 per family, and there is a possibility
