Luján And Schakowsky Push Data Analytics Company For Answers Following Significant Data Breach

WASHINGTON, D.C. ― U.S. Representatives Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) last week sent a letter to the computer software and data analytics company Alteryx after it was disclosed in December that the company failed to properly secure sensitive consumer data and accidentally exposed personal information affecting 123 million American households.

The data breach by Alteryx comes after a series of high profile data breaches including the disclosure of consumer data by the credit reporting agency

Former Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Dr. Sig Hecker is scheduled to appear in an interview on 60 Minutes at 7 p.m., ET/PT today, Jan. 14.

Hecker has visited North Korea seven times and will discuss his perception of the county’s nuclear program.

Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant Closure Announced

WASHINGTON, D.C. ― The plan to close California’s last nuclear power plant, Diablo Canyon, at the end of its current operating lease was approved Thursday by the California Public Utilities Commission.

Pacific Gas and Electric, Friends of the Earth, and other environmental and labor organizations reached a historic agreement in 2016 to shut down the two reactors at Diablo Canyon and replace them with renewable energy, efficiency and energy storage. Thursday’s decision makes a nuclear-free California one step closer.

A man wearing a black Under Armour jacket or sweatshirt robbed a northeast Albuquerque bank Thursday Jan. 11, and fled in a dark sport utility vehicle.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, approximately 6′ tall, with a heavy build. He wore sunglasses, a black Under Armour jacket or sweatshirt, a black beanie, and dark pants and shoes.

LAPD: Flashing Red Light Stop Signs On School Buses Mean Motorists Must Stop

The Los Alamos Police Department has recently received several complaints from Los Alamos Public School’s Transportation Division and parents, about motorist running the flashing red-light stop signs attached to the school buses.

FBI: Jicarilla Apache Man Pleads Guilty To Abuse

ALBUQUERQUE ― Zachary Wilson, 27, an enrolled member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation who resides in Dulce, pled guilty Tuesday morning in Federal Court in Albuquerque, to sexual abuse charges.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Wilson will be sentenced within the range of 24 to 36 months in prison followed by a term of supervised release to be determined by the court. Wilson also will be required to register as a sex offender.

U.S. Senate Can Force Vote On Net Neutrality

U.S. Sen. Ed Markey has announced that his resolution of disapproval on the Federal Communications Commission’s repeal of net neutrality rules has reached 30 cosponsors, allowing him to force a vote on the Senate floor under the Congressional Review Act.

CREDO’s petition calling on members of Congress to support the resolution has now been signed by more than 194,000 people.
